My name is Zosia Paszkiet, and I am an illustrator. My work is mainly inspired by folklore and nature. I am most often drawn to mythology, fairy tales and gothic literature in my search for ideas but I also enjoy making purely decorative art inspired by Arts and Crafts Movement. I think of myself as a single-image storyteller – when I come up with an idea for a new project, the main question is “how do I make it strong, beautiful, and clear all at once?”. Not everything I make has to be deep, it needs to have a function and bring joy to the audience.
Practical information
I create digital illustrations, acrylic paintings, linocut, riso and silkscreen prints. In my work I favour aspects such as clarity, sharpness, symmetry and attention to detail. I often rely on contrast and complementary colour palettes to produce an image that is immediately clear, but evocative. I create with applied and decorative art, product design, publishing and editorial market in mind.
As a person
I was born in Warsaw, Poland, and I currently live, work and study in the Netherlands. I love reading, jigsaw puzzles and old movies. I seek out nature whenever possible, through visiting national parks, mountain hiking or venturing out on day-long treks with my partner and family. I am passionate about LGBTQ+ and women’s rights as well as nature conservation.
I'm Zosia Paszkiet
